The fight to keep the State Fair in Lincoln is headed to the Nebraska Supreme Court.
“I wasn’t surprised by it, it was one of those that the Supreme court was going to have their say anyway, because it is such a big issue.”
The High court is pulling the lawsuit out of the appellate court in order to hear the case sooner. Attorney for the Plaintiffs James Beckmann tells us, the move could speed-up the whole process.
“I think it hurries the process along, I think it also tells us the Supreme court has been watching the case and wants to settle it once and for all.”
Beckmann says briefs will be due in September, but arguments will likely not be made before the Court until late this year or early next year. UNL is set to take possession of State Fair Park in January. Grand Island is also building facilities to hold the State Fair in 2010.
