Over 170 kids stay home thanks to H1N1

September 1, 2009 By Nebraska Radio Network Contributor

Over 170 students are absent from Lincoln Pius the Tenth because of the H1N1 virus. Principal Tom Korta tells us that the symptoms vary.

“You hear a lot about sore throats and fevers and some kids having stomach issues as well. I would say not too many of the kids are feeling great. Nothing at this point that has us worried about life threatening illness.”

Korta says that they’re emphasizing to students and parents the importance of regular and through hand washing,as well as covering their mouth and nose when they cough or sneeze. Korta says they also are telling parents to keep their kids home if they have a fever until it been gone for 24 hours.
