The Wichita Wingnuts got to Lincoln Saltdogs starter Jarrett Gardner early as the Dogs lose 6-2 in the first game of this best of five divisional series. Wichita had 15 hits, 13 of which were singles. They got on the board in the first with a run and added two more in the third.
Gavin Dickey’s solo homer in the bottom of the inning got Lincoln on the board, but Wichita’s two extra base hits came in the fourth to give them a 4-1 lead. The Saltdogs cut the deficit to 4-2 in the sixth inning on an RBI single by Rafael Alvarez, but Wichita added single runs in the seventh and eighth innings to put the game away.Wingnuts starter Will Savage allowed just four hits and the Wichita bullpen held Lincoln hitless. The teams play game two Wednesday night at 7:05. Righty Jim Paduch will make the start for Lincoln.
