Terrorism preparedness has helped Nebraska prepare for H1N1 influenza. Emergency Management Director Lt. Governor Rick Sheehy tells us that state and local health directors have taken an all hazard approach for all kinds of disasters man made or natural.
“They have been working on plans for six, seven, eight years should we have to do vaccinations across the state. Areas across the state will do things a little bit differently because geographically we’re large, so those plans are in place.”
Reports of H1N1 influenza are throughout the state with several outbreak areas. Three deaths are connected to H1N1, all with people having previous medical conditions.
