The Lincoln Saltdogs tied up their best of five playoff series with another dominating pitching performance by Jim Paduch over the Wichita Wingnuts in a 4-1 final at Haymarket Park. The American Association North Division series at one game apiece.
Jim Paduch allowed just one run on four hits over eight innings. Earlier in August, Paduch struck out 11 Wingnuts in a regular season win in Lincoln. The Wingnuts got their run in the third inning on three hits, but they left the bases loaded.
The Saltdogs went on top in the first inning, when Josh Burrus singled and stole second. Albenis Machado bunted Burrus to third, and Phil Hawke brought the run home with an RBI groundout. In the fifth, Burrus hit an infield single to score the go ahead run, and Machado followed with a two-run single to make the score 4-1.
The series resumes Friday night at 7:05 in Wichita.
