The Lincoln Saltdogs bounced back in the American Association Championship Series on Wednesday, beating Pensacola 6-1 at Haymarket Park. Lincoln evens the best-of-five series at one game apiece.
Down 1-0, the Saltdogs came around with the bats in the sixth inning. Former Pelican Rafael Alvarez led off the inning with a solo home run against Pensacola starter Kieran Mattison (1-1) to tie the game. One out later, Gavin Dickey singled, Shea McFeely walked, and Brandon Jones brought both men home with a two-run double. Alvarez added an RBI single in the seventh inning to make the score 4-1, and Lincoln tacked on two more in the eighth, on an RBI double by Jones and an RBI single by Albenis Machado.
Lincoln starter Jim Paduch allowed just one run on four hits in six innings while struggling with contol at time. Paduch walked four, but got out of trouble when he struck out six and picked off a pair of baserunners. it was Paduch’s second win of the postseason.
Game three of the American Association Championship Series is Friday night at 7:05 in Pensacola.
