8th ranked UCLA ended 5th ranked Nebraska’s 90 match home winning streak beating the Huskers in five sets in front of an NCAA record 13,870 at the Devaney center. Down two sets to one, UCLA won the fourth 26-24, then finished off the fifth with a 15-7 win.
The Huskers are now 7-2 on the season where at times, their inexperience showed. Tara Mueller paced had a team-best 17 kills and 13 digs, while freshman Hannah Werth and Brooke Delano added 14 and 10 kills each. Sydney Anderson who had 44 assists and 12 digs were Nebraska’s representatives on the all-tournament team of the Player’s Challenge.
Sunday’s crowd of 13,870 broke last year’s record of 13,412 watched NU and LSU. Nebraska has now played in front of the eight largest crowds in NCAA history.
