Senator Mike Johanns is praising his colleagues for the passage of an amendment that blocks more money from going to the ACORN organization. The money would have been allocated in the transportation and housing appropriations bill. Johanns spoke from the floor of the Senate.
“The people of Nebraska sent me to Washington to protect them from waste and fraud and abuse, and they asked my to change the status quo and I take that responsibility very seriously. That is why my amendment would prohibit one more penny of taxpayer money from going to ACORN.”
Johanns says there have been numerous instances of fraud since 19-94 connected to the group that played a large role in voter registration in the last election. Johanns says tax money should have no part in that.
