Earlier today on our morning sports reports on the Nebraska Radio Network you may have heard about some personnel changes with the Nebraska Cornhuskers. In a story, our buddy Sean Callahan of HuskersIllustrated.com broke, Phillip Dillard, is moving from middle linebacker to weak side linebacker.
Carl Pelini, the Huskers defensive coordinator says Dillard is excited and added that making the move from middle to weak is pretty easy to make. After not playing in the first two games, Pelini said the coaches were just following their depth chart, but Pelini explains Dillard is now number one on the chart to add some competition, plus with Will linebackers Matthew May and Blake Lawrence banged up a bit, it seemed like the right move. Pelini says May and Lawrence are both working and practicing the game plan for this Saturday and Pelini said he has three will linebackers available if he needs them.
Head coach Bo Pelini announced that redshirt freshmen running back Collins Okafor is leaving the program, but wouldn’t go into any details.
As we wrap up the Big Red Report, you’ll hear Carl Pelini talk about the game day atmosphere in Lane Stadium at Virginia Tech.
