Senator Mike Johanns continues his look into the community organizing group ACORN. Tuesday, Senators voted 83-7 in favor of an amendment from Johanns to cut off federal funding to ACORN. Now, Johanns is asking the U.S. Attorney General to investigate the group.
Johanns told us, ACORN has received more than 50 million dollars in federal money over the past 15 years, but their alleged criminal activity should not be funded with taxpayer dollars.
Johanns has cited numerous cases of criminal activity within ACORN, including hundreds of cases of voter registration fraud.
About 70 ACORN employees have already been convicted on various charges in 12 states and many more investigations are already underway.
