Virginia Tech’s Tyrod Taylor completed an 81 yard pass down to the NU three yard line, then while scrambling for his life on third and goal threw a touchdown pass with :21 left on the clock as the #13 Hokies stun #19 Nebraska 16-15.
The Huskers never found the end zone, but got five field goals from Alex Henery while the Blackshirts kept Taylor and the Hokie offense at bay for most of the game, limiting them to under 200 yards of total offense until the final drive of the game.
Cornerback Anthony West dropped off coverage along the right sideline leaving Coale wide open. Matt O’Hanlon pushed him out of bounds at the three. After taking a sack and throwing an incomplete pass, Taylor scrambled out of the pocket to his left, then back to his right before finding a receiver open in the end zone. The Huskers had good coverage and a good pass rush on Taylor but he was elusive enough to buy time and make the winning throw.
More coming soon.
