Good news for Audubon Nebraska as they are receiving $25,000 in environmental protection funds. Spokeswoman Marion Langan says The money comes from environmental protection funds from Attorney General Jon Bruning. The money awarded to Audubon Nebraska was made available through the Attorney General’s Environmental Protection Fund. The fund is comprised of voluntary payments collected in court-approved settlements from entities that have violated state and federal environmental statutes and regulations.
The funds will support conservation and educational programs at Spring Creek Prairie Audubon Center in Denton, Nebraska, and Rowe Sanctuary and Iain Nicolson Audubon Center in Gibbon, Nebraska.
Research shows that spending time in nature as children is a necessary component of learning to care for the environment as an adult.
