One Husker player says he used to talk about playing this game between Nebraska and Missouri with a fellow Missourian. He just never expected they would be on opposite teams. Nebraska linebacker Will Compton thought he and fellow Missourian Blaine Gabbert would be on the same sideline this Thursday when the Huskers travel to Columbia, Mo.
After Nebraska was beat 41-6 in Columbia two years ago and it appeared that Bill Callahan, who recruited Gabbert was on his way out, Gabbert had a change of heart and went with the Tigers instead.
As far as Gabbert and what to expect this week, Missouri head coach Gary Pinkel likes about his quarterback is his poise. He’s yet to be rattled. He’s played on the national stage where he was named Big 12 player of the week for his performance against Illinois and he led Missouri to a second half comeback win over Bowling Green. Obviously, this is a home game for Gabbert in Columbia, but perhaps this game, being the Big 12 opener puts a little more pressure on Gabbert.
