The state’s unemployment rate has improved slightly to just under five percent. That is half of the nation’s unemployment rate. Cathy Lang with the Nebraska Department of Labor says the only private sector to see an increase in jobs is in education and health services with an additional 1150 added last month. She says that sector has been growing over the past year.
“It has been growing and it is one of our emerging industries for those citizens who are seeking to find new opportunities that is one of the areas that they may consider looking into.”
Lang says her department is watching the numbers closely as winter is not usually a time of increased hiring.
