Nebraska Senators are talking among themselves as they prepare to go into special session early next month. Governor Dave Heineman will call them back to Lincoln to cut the state budget in the face of dropping tax revenues. Senator Cap Dierks of Ewing says the hole keeps getting bigger.
“We hear what the loss of revenue has been, somewhere around $90 million and counting, so thats a sizeable mount of money.”
Dierks says it will take some big cuts to bring the budget back into balance.
“I would imagine across the board you’d be looking at something around 5%, but that’s just a wild guess – that could change after we get the reports in for October you know.”
