We don’t know for sure who is going to start at quarterback for the Huskers on Saturday. Could be Zac Lee…could be true freshmen Cody Green. Head coach Bo Pelini is getting tired of the question. I’m thinking Green will get the call. If Pelini wasn’t going to make a change, why would he not come out and give his full vote of confidence in Lee. Witholding the information only protects Green from the media onslaught he would have faced this weekend. (Watch me be completely wrong?)
The last true freshmen to start at quarterback for the Huskers. Tommie Frazier, on October 24th, 1992. Ironically, if Green does start he’d would do so exactly 17 years to the day. The native of Houston Texas said if he does get the call, he’ll be ready. Linebacker Blake Lawrence has decided to quit football after having four concussions in 18 months. Pelini says he and the football program at NU are going to take care of Lawrence.
The Huskers will also be without senior receiver Chris Brooks who had five catches last week against Tech. He’s out with a sore lower back. Pelini is looking for guys like Khoury Cooper and the rest of the receivers to step up.
