Division II national and regional rankings

October 27, 2009 By Bill Pollock

Wayne State dropped out of the top 25 rankings after their loss on Saturday. The Wildcats are ranked 9th in their Super Regional rankings while Nebraska-Kearney, winners of eight in a row moved up to 8th from 11th in the national rankings after their 59-14 win.

More importantly for the Lopers, they are 6th in their Super Regional rankings. The top eight teams from the four regionals make the playoffs, so its important for the Lopers to finish strong. As for the Wildcats, they are on the bubble, one spot off the playoff race.

Nebraska-Kearney will play at home this week against Colorado School of Mines before heading on the road to finish the season at Mesa State. Mines is also 7-0 in the conference and Mesa State is third in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference with a 5-2 record.

Wayne State finishes with Concordia St. Paul and Mary…two middle of the pack teams in the Northern Sun Conference. After Wayne State’s loss to Augustana, the Vikings hold a virtual two game lead off the Wildcats in the conference standings and it could be difficult for four conference teams to make the national playoffs.
