NU officials announced the starting time for Nebraska’s regular season basketball opener with South Carolina-Upstate for November 14. The tip is set for 7 p.m. at the Devaney Center and the announcement was made after the kickoff for the Nebraska-Kansas football game on the same day was slated to start at 2:30 p.m.
NU will play two exhibitions before the season opener beginning this Friday at 7 p.m., when the Huskers host Arkansas-Fort Smith. Then, on Nov. 10 at 7 p.m., NU will play Hastings College at the Devaney Center. The NU women are in action tonight.
Senior Kelsey Griffin will play for the Nebraska women’s basketball team tonight for the first time since missing the 2008-2009 season with a foot injury. Griffin and the Huskers will host NCAA Division II Pittsburg State of Kansas, a member of the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association, the same conference as Nebraska-Omaha. The game is set for a 7:05 p.m. tip at the Devaney Center. The Huskers’ other exhibition game is scheduled for 2:05 p.m. Sunday against Division II University of Nebraska at Kearney.
In addition to the All Big 12 player in Griffin, Connie Yori expects to start senior forward Cory Montgomery, senior guards Kala Kuhlmann and Yvonne Turner and junior guard Dominique Kelley.
