Nebraska’s Kelsey Griffin was back on the floor after missing last season with a foot injury and she led the Huskers basketball team to a 68-54 win over Division II’s Pittsburg State in an exhibition game. Griffin was 8 of 14 from the field and 3 of 4 at the line to lead all scorers with 19 points. She also led all rebounders with 8 in her 19 minutes of playing time. Cory Montgomery had 17 points.
Griffin, a two-time first-team All-Big 12 forward did it all early for NU. She won the opening tip, grabbed NU’s first rebound and scored the Huskers’ first points on a nice jump shot as the Huskers built a 15-3 lead. Pittsburg State kept battling, but went into the locker room down 11 at the break. Despite the good first half from NU, Pitt State was able to close to within three points with just over 11 minutes to play in the game, but another run by NU put the game out of reach.
