State Senator Colby Coash of Lincoln is proposing not hiring seven surveyors that would of provided extra oversight to those that are taking care of the disabled in Nebraska.
“These are Surveyors who would go out and survey community based programs across the state to make sure regulations are being followed, what I know from being on the inside is the lack of these surveyors doesn’t mean there is a lack of oversight”
Coash says the plan was to hire eight surveyors, but he says one is sufficient. He says Service Coordinators have already been hired to make sure that those with disabilities are already getting the care they need. Not hiring the extra staff saves the state up to 300-thousand dollars.
