Who cares that it was an exhibition game for the Creighton Bluejays, 15,099 fans made it to Qwest Center Omaha to see the Bluejays beat up on Division II’s Missouri Western 94-69. The Bluejays would open the first half scoring 16 of the first 18 points to take a 16-2 lead just 5:39 into the game. During the next seven minutes, the Griffons would hang with the Bluejay being outscored just 14-13 to make the score 30-15 with 7:20 left in the half.
In the first ten minutes of the second half the Griffons would take good shots converting on 8-of-12 attempts scoring 18 points. CU would also shoot well making 56.3-percent (9-of-16) scoring 21 points. In the game the Griffons shot 43.1-percent (25-58) form the field as they had 42 points in the paint to Creighton’s 38. The key stat was that the Blue Jays had 34 points off of the Griffon turnovers with 21 fast break points. Creighton shot 51.6-percent (33-64) from the field and only turned the ball over 11 times. Creighton was led by Stinnett as he finished with 20 points while Darryl Ashford pitched in 16.
