Voters have approved the $8.2-million school bond issue in the Paxton Consolidated School District.
According to the Keith County website, 380 voters, or a little less than half the voters in the district turned out. Some 148 people voted against the bond issue, while 232 people voted for the bond issue.
The money will be used to renovated existing parts of the school as well as add on four new classrooms, a new multipurpose facility, locker rooms, bathrooms and additional space for the school’s buses and vehicles.
The bond is expected to increase property taxes from ninety-five cents per one-hundred dollars of valuation to $1.24 per one-hundred dollars of valuation.
