Creighton won its 15th straight home opener, leading from the opening tip to the final buzzer with a 78-53 victory over visiting Florida A&M on Tuesday before 15,321 fans at Qwest Center Omaha. The Bluejays used the three pointer to its advantage in the first half in jumping out to a 20 point lead. CU was 7 of 17 in the first half from three point range and took half of there shots from out there. Darryl Ashford hit three of them and finished with a team high 17 points.
Creighton led between 20 and 32 points in the second half, with its largest lead reaching 70-38 with nine minutes to go. Four men scored in double-figures for Creighton, had four in double figures led by Ashford, while Ethan Wragge had 16 points off the bench. Kenny Lawson Jr. had 11 points and Cavel Witter with 10 points. Wayne Runnels, reigning MVC Newcomer of the Week led CU with nine rebounds for the second straight game.
