Before this whole story explodes about Tom Osborne calling the shots on the offense, it wanted to stop it dead in its tracks, so the Husker A.D. met with the media to clear the air about what he was specifically doing with his involvement with the offense. So as I mentioned yesterday on the Big Red Report, Osborne said he just passed along some old game film of similar plays NU was running now, saying it’s just another source for the Husker coaches.
So, end of story, Osborne is not voicing his opinions or calling any shots. As far as the prep work for K-State. Some good news for the offense, Nebraska true freshman running back Rex Burkhead returned to practice Wednesday, five weeks after he suffered a hairline fracture in his foot. Whether or not he’ll play on Saturday will depend on if he gets the 100% clearance of team doctors. Yesterday, it was quite a bit a running, he’s got a lot of catching up to do.
This is going to be a pretty interesting game to watch, one that is going to come down to the fourth quarter because I think a lot of running is going to be involved in this game. I’m a little concerned about the Husker defensive line and I never thought I would say that. This is going to be the third tough game in a row for that unit, very physical. Defensive coordinator Carl Pelini talks about being patient.
