President Barack Obama spoke to the nation last night about sending 30,000 more troops to Afghanistan. Nebraska U.S. Senator Ben Nelson listened to the speech and agrees with the President.
“I also will look closely at plans to train Afghan army and police officers. They must step up to the plate and protect the Afghan people. I’m anxious to see the administration’s new benchmarks measuring progress of the efforts.”
Nelson says those benchmarks are important because it will help the Government measure success as the war continues.
