The Nebraska women’s basketball team went on a 30-5 run in the final 10:30 of the first half on their way to a 77-38 win over South Dakota last night at home. The Huskers are now 7-0. Senior Cory Montgomery led the Huskers with 14 points, Yvonne Turner had 13.
The Huskers also helped themselves with tough defense, holding South Dakota to just 6 of 14 shooting and 18 turnovers in the first half. South Dakota scored the first five points of the second half, but Montgomery and the Huskers then went on a 10-0 run to kill Dakota’s rally.
Nine Huskers made the scoring sheet. Most of the top players topped around 17 minutes. Montgomery and Kelsie Griffin played less than a half of the game. Griffin had eight points and five rebounds.
The women are back in action on Saturday with a 1pm tip off in Miami, Florida.
