The Nebraska National Guard is getting a $24 million upgrade. The money is coming as part of the $1.1 trillion spending bill signed by the President Wednesday. Major Curtis Abendroth tells us, the money is needed to build a new headquarters.
“There are a lot of older facilities right now that are getting to the point where they are 60 years old and we’re spending a lot of money to continue to upgrade and keep those up so to be able to garner some money for new facilities for the future of the Nebraska National Guard is a great thing.”
Major Abendroth says the facility has been in the works since 2003 and will finally be built with this funding. The Guard is hoping to move into the new headquarters in 2012.
