Fatal wreck caused by black ice in Paxton

December 22, 2009 By Nebraska Radio Network Contributor

Black ice is believed to be the cause of a fatal crash near Paxton just before 7am Mountain Time Tuesday morning.

According to Keith County Sheriff Kevin Mueller, a 42 year old woman from Morrison, Colorado, was traveling east on I-80 near Paxton when she apparently hit some black ice and slid across the median.

The woman’s Chevy Tracker then struck a westbound Freight liner semi truck, driven by a 54 year old driver from Fountain, Colorado. The woman died at the scene and the semi driver was not injured.

Mueller says the investigation is ongoing and they?re not releasing any names until the next of kin can be located and notified.
