Quincy Hankins-Cole matched his season-high with 15 points in coming off the bench to lead the Huskers to their 10th win of the season, an easy 94-61 win over the Thunderbirds of Southern Utah.
The Huskers are perfect at home, 8-0 thanks to a 10-1 run in the first two minutes of the second half that opened up a 49-25 lead after Brandon Richardson pumped in a three. The ‘Birds cut the lead to 14, but Richardson hit another three and Hankins-Cole made two more baskets to push the lead back up to 23 with just 11 minutes to go in the game.
Hankins-Cole led Nebraska with 15 points on 6-of-8 shooting, as the Huskers had four players in double figures. Freshman Brandon Ubel added 12 points, while Sek Henry and Brandon Richardson chipped in 12 and 10 points. NU’s 94 points was the highest offensive total in five years.
Nebraska returns to action on Saturday afternoon, as the Huskers host Maryland-Eastern Shore at 3 p.m.
