Yvonne Turner scored 14 points and pulled down seven rebounds and Kelsey Griffin picked up her sixth double-double as the Nebraska women beat Iowa State 57-49 in Ames, IA Saturday night.
With the win, Nebraska is now 14-0 extending their best start in school history. NU is one of five unbeaten teams in the nation right now. The Huskers also snapped Iowa State’s 12 game winning streak at home.
The key to the game came in the second half. Dominique Kelly scored nine of her 11 points in the second half which turned a early deficit into a six point lead with 7:30 minutes to play. The defense also held Iowa State to one field goal in a span of 11 minutes and they Huskers hit their free throws down the stretch going 10 of 12 at the line to seal the win.
The Huskers open Big 12 Conference home action by taking on No. 15 Texas on Tuesday night at the Devaney Center in Lincoln.
