Traffic was tied up for hours during the morning rush today in Omaha. A large snow blower broke down on the I-80 ramp to I-680. Jim Laughlin with the Department of Roads says efforts to move the equipment from the ramp were hindered with the traffic so the decision to shut down the on-ramp eastbound to I-680.
The blower is 47-feet long, 9-feet wide and weighs 53-thousand pounds and Laughlin says it isn’t moved easily. He says mechanics did the best they could to get it fixed in a timely manner.
State crews have been working overnights to clear heavy snow piles and there is the possibility of cars ramping up over a bridge.
