Governor delivers State of the State Address

Governor Dave HeinemanNebraska Governor Dave Heineman is giving his annual State of the State Address in the Capitol’s Legislative chamber this morning. Heineman says he has three main priorities. Growing the Economy, Strengthening education, and working to use technology to reform the delivery of Government services. Heineman commended past actions to prepare for the future.

“During this national economic slowdown, we have seized the opportunity to make Nebraska more competitive.  Many states have raised income or sales taxes, have Nebraska has not.”

When talking about education, the Governor says good teachers and parental involvement are the key to increasing student achievement. The Governor also mentioned the creation of a virtual high school in the state.
