It was a big win for the Nebraska-Omaha Mavericks who are in Missouri for a two game road trip. Last night at 16th ranked Southwest Baptist, the Mavericks rallied from an early 12 point deficit to win 99-91 ending the Bearcats home winning streak of 38 games.
Andrew Bridger led UNO with 18 points and 10 assists. The Bearcats (14-4, 5-3 MIAA) opened up a 12-point margin in the first half on multiple occasions. After SBU led 32-20 with 32-20 with just under seven minutes left in the first half, UNO would use a 12-4 run to cut the lead to four points. A three from Ryan Dougherty sent the teams to locker rooms with the Bearcats on top 46-42.
The teams would stay close in the early minutes of the second stanza. A layup from Torrian Harris gave the Mavericks (13-2, 6-2 MIAA) the lead for good at 65-63 with 15 minutes left in the contest. The Mavs would push the lead to as much as 13 points, before the Bearcats would cut it five points in the final minutes.
What a great way to bounce back from a disappointing home loss last Saturday to then #1 Central Missouri. The Mavs are at Missouri Southern on Saturday. The UNO women also rallied to win coming back from nine down with 11 minutes to play to come up with a 59-52 win.
