The #6 Nebraska women’s basketball team has never won a game in Lubbock Texas. They are 0-7 at Texas Tech dating all the way back to 1985. That could change tonight at the NU ladies go into tonight’s game 17-0 overall, 4-0 in the Big 12. The Red Raiders are 13-5, but just 1-3 in Big 12 play.
The team is so much more than Kelsey Griffin, but the senior is having a great year, averaging 19 points, a Big 12 best 10.4 rebounds per game and her 60.7% shooting is sixth best in the country. The Huskers are led by three seniors and a junior in the starting lineup. Along with Griffin, NU’s starting lineup is made up of fellow senior Cory Montgomery who averages 13.2 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. Senior Yvonne Turner has been red hot the last three games, averaging 21.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, and three steals per game. Yvonne is lighting it up from behind the three point line, nailing 17 three pointers in the last three wins including career-high six in back-to-back wins against Baylor and Kansas State. Turner leads the Huskers in scoring in league action with 19.3 points per game.Junior guard Dominique Kelley is averaging 11.5 points and 4.4 rebounds per game. The Lincoln native will be making her 82nd career start tonight.
