DNA may be collected from felons and they foot the bill

January 28, 2010 By Nebraska Radio Network Contributor

Lincoln Senator Bill Avery’s bill to force all felons in the state to provide D-N-A samples is moving forward to the final round.

“When you have DNA evidence on file that cuts down on investigative costs, Because we know most felons are repeat offenders.”

Avery says each DNA kit costs about 30 bucks, but he says the cost of investigations would go down as more DNA is collected. The felons would also be forced to pay for the kits.
