Bringing back a tradition that Stars’ fans started when the team first arrived in Lincoln, the team held a “Silly String” night handing out free cans to fans to celebrate when the Stars scored a goal. The team didn’t let the fans down after a 5-2 win over Sioux Falls.
The string was flying last night at the Ice Box as Dominik Shine scored a hat trick with two first period goals and then his third in the second to break a 2-2 tie. Ryan Dzingel scored a power play goal late in the second period and Brodie Reid added an empty-netter to cap off the win for the Stars who were outshot 38-27. Jared Coreau made 36 saves as over 3,000 fans showed up for reduced concession prices and plenty of silly string.
Now if the Stars can string together some wins. They are 12-24-6 and in last place in the West Division and could miss the playoffs for just the second time in team history.
