He says if they can’t come up with the needed funding, there is no way they will be able to continue to operate or pay teachers.
Father Baumert says the school relies on donations to help fund all operations of the school and fewer people are able to donate due to the downturn in the economy. He adds that most families they serve can not afford a tuition increase. He adds donations have been slow coming in and people are contributing considerably less than even a few years ago. Fundraising efforts have also been poor.
Holy Name needs to raise $300,000 by March 15th or they will not be able to operate next year. The school has been in operation for 93 years. A public meeting will be held on Sunday to discuss ways to raise money.
