Nebraska Ready For Pesky Tigers

February 27, 2010 By LCI Admin

The Big 12 Champion Nebraska Cornhuskers will be back at the Devaney Center tonight for a game against the Mizzou Tigers. The number three and still undefeated Cornhuskers wrapped up the conference title this past week with a win over Oklahoma Sooners.

Nebraska comes into this game fresh off of their first ever Big 12 Conference title, and just their second conference title in school history. The Huskers would go on an 18-1 run late in the second half to defeat Oklahoma. They were led by senior Kelsey Griffin who scored 30 points and senior Cory Montgomery who put in 24.

For Mizzou, this is the season that seems like it will never end. The Tigers come into the Devaney Center on an eight game losing streak. Mizzou is averaging less than 57 points per game in conference play. But, it is worth noting that the only conference win for the Tigers was an upset one when they beat Baylor.

But regardless of records, expect this to be a close game. The first time they met two weeks ago, Mizzou would lead for most of the game before the Huskers late push led to a 82-78 come from behind win. Last year, when the Tigers paid their visit to the Devaney Center, it was another close one as Nebraska would win, but only by three, 65-62.

Nebraska has two more games on the schedule before they start play in the Big 12 Conference Tournament. That will be a home game next Wednesday against Kansas and they will wrap up the season next Saturday on the road in Manhattan against Kansas State.

The Huskers and the Tigers will tip off tonight at 7:05.
