The Nebraska men found themselves down 49-36 with just under 13 minutes to play and rallied to make it a one point game, but came up a little short at the end falling to Texas A & M in the Big 12 tournament in Kansas City by the final of 70-64.
It was a battle most of the game for the Huskers who started slow hitting just 4 of 10 shots as A & M jumped out to a 16-9 lead with 11:00 to go in the first half. The Huskers turned the ball over 11 times and that hurt NU’s chances to close in the first half. A great example of this game after NU cut the lead to 34-28. Lance Jeter was stripped of the ball and Donald Sloan nailed a three pointer to make it a nine point game at break.
Sloan would led A & M with 23 points. A & M came out firing in the second half and built a 16 point lead with 18:49 to play in the game. Then the Aggies got sloppy and the Huskers took care of the ball and started making their run. NU used an 11-0 run to close to 49-47 with 9:02 to play and cut the lead to one, but the Aggies came up with a big shot they needed a bucket to hold off the Huskers who were gunning for their second upset of the tournament.
NU shot 50% for the game and was led by Ryan Anderson who finished his career at Nebraska with 16 points. Jorge Brian Diaz had 14 and Sek Henry 13. NU finishes their season 15-18.
