The last word hasn’t been spoken on legislation regarding funding for prenatal care for illegal immigrants and others who don’t qualify for government health care coverage. Senator Brad Ashford from Omaha says the issue is not dead yet.
“This matter will come up for a vote in the next couple of weeks. There are other bills that could be used as a vehicle for this bill.”
Senator Ashford says there is solid support for the prenatal coverage.
“It has been a legislative initiative for more than two decades and I’m sure we will revisit it.”
Senator Ashford says there could still be a vote before the Unicameral adjourns. The coverage has been provided in Nebraska for several decades through the use of Medicaid funds.
