The Nebraska softball team won its fourth straight road game on Wednesday, as the Huskers shutout the Kansas Jayhawks, 2-0. The win was the Huskers’ fifth straight overall and eighth in the last nine games. Nebraska improved to 25-17 on the year and moved to 4-3 in Big 12 Conference play.
Junior right-hander Robin Mackin got the win, giving up seven hits over five innings, while walking two. She struck out seven and never got into serious trouble. Ashley Hagemann got the save for her fourth of the year. Heidi Foland was 2 for 4 with a double and an RBI, and Brooke Thomason was 2-for-3 with a double. Julie Brechtel also doubled and drove in the other run.
Nebraska wraps up its five-game road trip today with a 4 p.m. contest at Iowa State.
