A top-ranking official from the most recent Bush administration will be the guest of honor at an event in Nebraska this fall.
Former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice will be honored at the Ambassador of Hope Gala on October 26th at the Qwest Center in Omaha.
The gala is hosted by the Friends of the UNMC Eppley Cancer Center. The event is held every two years and is one of the city’s top fundraising events. In 2008, it hauled in more than a million dollars to support cancer research at UNMC.
Rice, who lost her mother to breast cancer, is a strong advocate for breast cancer research and screenings.
She’ll be presented with the Ambassador of Hope Award. There have only been a few other recipients, including Tom Brokaw, Sam Donaldson and General Norman Schwarzkopf.
