The Omaha Royals have been getting solid pitching, but lost a tough 1-0 homestand finale to the Nashville Sound. Bruce Chen, allowed just one hit in seven innings. Royals reliever Greg Holland (0-1) pitched a scoreless eighth, but gave up the lone run of the contest in the ninth. Eric Farris led off the final inning with a single to center, took second on a sacrifice bunt and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Brendan Katin lifted a sacrifice fly to deep right for his ninth RBI on the year to push across the game’s only run.
Chen posted a Pacific Coast League-leading three complete game shutouts last season and got off to another great start this year. He walked two and struck out six in his second start of the year. Nashville starter Marco Estrada kept his ERA at 0.00 after two starts by allowing just two hits in seven scoreless frames, walking two and fanning four.
