Peru State swept the weekly softball player honors for the MCAC with junior Nicole Goodrich being named pitcher of the week and freshmen catch Emily Maresh the player of the week.
A native of Central City, Neb., Maresh hit .643 (9-for-14) last week helping the Bobcats to a 4-0 record, which included a pair of sweeps vs. conference opponents. She had eight runs scored, three doubles, three homers and six RBI for the week. In a 6-5 win vs. College of Saint Mary, she had a pair of home runs, including the game-winner in the bottom of the ninth.
Goodrich (Eagle, Neb.) tossed a complete-game four-hitter in Peru State’s 1-0 win over Haskell Indian Nations University last week. She recorded 10 strikeouts in the victory.
The Bobcats, who are 4-2 in league play, are 18-18 overall.
