Two Nebraska Division II schools will send golfers to the women’s regional play next week and a couple of track stars from Wayne State set school records this past weekend in South Dakota.
Cody Diehl of Wayne State broke his own school record of 6,057 points for a fourth place finish in the Northern Sun Conference Decathlon held Sunday and Monday in Aberdeen, South Dakota. The sophomore from Grand Island Northwest High School passed his previous mark of 5,820 points set on April 9. Wayne State’s Paige Pollard set a new school record with 4,558 points to earn a second place finish in the Northern Sun Conference Heptathlon.
In Division II women’s golf, Omaha native, senior Erin Ommen will represent the Nebraska Omaha golf team at the West Regional beginning next week. The Mavericks did not qualify as a team, but Ommen, is one of four individuals selected to play alongside nine teams. Nebraska-Kearney sophomore and Hastings native Sara Wissing is headed to Central Regional play for the second straight spring. The Lopers did not qualify as a team.
