Lincoln Southeast graduate and former Husker Alex Gordon went 0 for 4 Tuesday night in his first game with the Omaha Royals since being sent down to the AAA team from Kansas City. It was also his first game in left field.
Gordon struck out twice and walked once in a 10-5 loss to Oklahoma City at Rosenblatt Stadium. As far as his work in the field, Gordon missed on two attempts where he went diving after the ball. One miss in foul territory gave new life to Brandon Boggs who would then hit a triple.
Gordon wasn’t the only O-Royal to struggle in the field as three errors led to six unearned runs. Oklahoma City starter Derek Holland (4-1) got the win, going five innings and allowing two runs on four hits and a walk. The 23-year old lefty matched his season high with eight strikeouts.
