Junior pitcher Katie Goetzinger was selected First Team All-NSIC for the third straight season and was named 2010 NSIC Softball Pitcher of the Year.
Senior outfielder Amy Sandstrom and junior first baseman Jennifer Radley each received First Team All-NSIC honors while junior catcher Sam Earleywine and junior second baseman Blaire Kuhl were named Second Team All-NSIC. Wayne State was 21-5 in the NSIC this season and finished in a tie for second overall.
Goetzinger, a junior from Harlan, Iowa, went 16-3 with a 1.09 ERA for the Wildcats. She struck out 172 batters in 109 innings pitched against NSIC opponents. Overall for the season, she is 25-8 with a 1.04 ERA and ranks seventh in NCAA Division II with 280 strikeouts in just 201.2 innings pitched. Goetzinger ranks sixth nationally in hits allowed per seven innings (3.92), eighth in wins (25) and ninth in ERA (1.04).
She was named the NFCA National Pitcher of the Week on April was voted the NSIC’s Preseason Pitcher of the Year.
