A Lincoln man has been arrested in connection with a loss of more than $50,000 of jewelry in rural Lancaster County.
Sheriff Terry Wagner says the victim mistakenly left the jewelry inside a defective dryer, that was replaced by the store that sold it to her. After realizing the jewelry was still inside the dryer, the victim called authorities and they were able to track down where the appliance went.
Sheriff Wagner says 41 year old Todd Hamersma found the jewelry and kept it for about a month, selling about half of it and keeping the rest. Wagner says by law, Hamersma was required to report finding the jewelry.
