With the second most wins in school history, the Nebraska-Kearney Lopers looked to keep their season going in the NCAA Division II baseball tournament in New Mexico. That all would come to an end as the New Mexico Highlands ended the Lopers season with a 9-3 win.
The Lopers would take an early lead in the bottom of the first when Luke Valerius would drive in two runs with a single. But that would be the only runs allowed by New Mexico pitcher Trent Evins over the next seven innings.
The Highlands would score their first run in the third, and then score two more in the fourth. They would get two more runs in the seventh from a two run home run. The long balls would continue as New Mexico hit two solo shots in the eighth and one more solo blast in the ninth.
Nebraska-Kearney would get one more run, and that would come in the ninth thanks to a home run from Luke Stamp.
The Nebraksa-Kearney Lopers end their season with 36 wins.
