The season is now over for the Nebraksa-Omaha baseball team as they lose yesterday afternoon in the South Central Regional Tournament in Warrensburg, Missouri. The Mavericks lost to the St. Mary’s Rattlers 8-6.
The Mavericks would get on the board first as they would score three runs in the first, thanks to RBI singles from Tyler Splichal and Andrew Hansen.
St. Mary’s would waste no time in tying the game. With their next at bat, the Rattlers would score three runs of their own on two RBI singles.
The Rattlers would taken the lead in the fourth. UNO would answer with two runs of their own on an RBI single from Tyler Lundy and would take a 5-4 lead.
St. Mary’s would take the lead for good in the sixth with three runs on a two out double. This put the Rattlers up 7-5.
The Mavericks would answer with one run in their half of the sixth, but two more runs by the Rattlers would put away the game for St. Mary’s.
The UNO Mavericks finish the 2010 season with a 32-20 overall record.
